Substance abuse affects individuals, families, workplaces, and communities at every level. This in-depth training explores the complex dynamics of drug and alcohol use, the psychological and neurological underpinnings of addiction, and the human stories behind dependency.
The course provides a foundation in understanding the psychology and neuroscience of addiction, including how neurotransmitters function and how addiction is categorized as a disease. Participants will also learn about different substances of abuse—from alcohol and cannabis to prescription drugs, narcotics, and designer substances—alongside their medical and psychosocial impacts.
